  • Suite Install - Windows Installer Coordinator - Looping in the background

Trying to install the Classic Suite on a Windows machine. Running in to an issue where the Windows Installer Coordinator appears as soon as the install starts, and it continues to loop saying 'preparing for first time use'.

    Anyone encounter this before?

Figured it out! Turns out the Windows Installer Coordinator launches as part of the install process by mistake (Windows Group Policy enables it), and the Suite installation is waiting on the Installer Coordinator, but the Windows Installer Coordinator does not ever finish.

To fix, I disabled the Windows Installer Coordinator by performing the following steps:
    1. Log in to Windows with an account that has administrative rights.
    2. Open Control Panel
    3. Search for 'Group Policy'. There should be an option that appears saying 'Edit Group Policy'.
    4. Local Computer Policy (MMC + Group Policy ObjectEditor)\Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Remote Desktop Services\Remote Desktop Session Host\Application Compatibility – Turn off Windows Installer RDS Compatibility
      1. It may not say it is configured, but edit it and select 'Disabled'.
Then I restarted the install, which completed.
