Creating workstation images is an industry standard for rapidly deploying new hardware/software packages to users and minimizing the amount of IT resources needed to set up a new workstation. These images typically have most user software pre-installed on them, resulting in a ready-to-go workstation in a fraction of the time compared to manually installing each piece of software. Since each installation of Copy+ requires a distinct Client ID and Serial Nbr pair, this information needs to be set after the workstation is deployed to the user, to prevent authorization errors.

The steps below will allow you to create a workstation image including Copy+ with no authorization information, and also provides instructions on how to set this information after deploying the image to a new machine. This method will reduce the amount of time needed for each install, as only a few steps will be needed to activate Copy+ on each image.

Creating the master image
First, start with a fresh system image with no Copy+ install located on it. This ensures that there will be no old authorization information which gets saved in the image. Then, run the Copy+ installer and follow the special instructions below.

1. Follow the Copy+ prompts as usual to select which components to install and the desired install location.
2. When asked to enter the ClientID and Serial Number, leave these fields blank and continue with the install.
3. After installation is complete, start Copy+. Navigate to "Config" and then "Authorize." The "Client ID" and "Serial Nbr" fields should be blank; if not, ensure the system image you used did not have Copy+ on it prior to the install.
4. After confirming the fields are blank, you may apply any other configuration settings desired in the software. Then, create your new software image to deploy to new machines.

Configuration of deployed images
For each new machine that is deployed with this image, the following steps MUST be taken in order for Copy+ to run:

1. Navigate to the install folder for Copy+ (default "C:\Program Files\IPRO Tech\Copy+" for XP or 32-bit Windows 7, or "C:\Program Files (x86)\IPRO Tech\Copy+" for 64-bit Windows 7). Run the file "IproServiceConfig.exe"
2. Verify and populate the requested fields:

TCP/IP Address: 127.0.0.1
TCP/IP Port: 9800
Client ID: [enter the appropriate Client ID]
Serial Nbr: [enter the appropriate Serial Nbr for this install]
Timeout: 30

3. Save these values, and close the Service Config application.
4. Open "Services" on the local machine (located under Control Panel > Administrative Tools). Locate the "Ipro Auth Service" and restart it. Verify that it shows a status of "Started."
5. Start Copy+. Navigate to "Config" and then "Authorize"
6. The Auth Manager should now reflect the Client ID and Serial Nbr you entered into IproServiceConfig.exe during Step 2. If it does not, you may need to go back to Step 1 and run this EXE as administrator, or you may need to log into the workstation as a local administrator and perform this step. If the values look correct, proceed to Step 7.
7. Click on File > Manage System Authorization > Remote Authorize System. You should receive a notification that the remote authorization was successful, and the IPRO PAM system will send an email to the address of record stating that the authorization was successful.

If you received a successful authorization message in Step 7, the software is authorized on the system and may be used normally.
