Jobs in eCapture Controller never complete

Applies to: ADD, eCapture, Eclipse
Version: All

Symptom
Jobs of any type in eCapture Controller start but never progress or complete. These jobs may have been started within Controller itself, or may be streaming discovery or export jobs sent from ADD or Eclipse.
Notes
There are numerous possible causes for this symptom. Outlined below will be some of the more common resolutions.

The eCapture Queue Manager and Worker applications require that a Windows user have an active Windows session on the workstation or server in question. Ipro recommends an Ipro Service Windows user be logged into the workstation or server; the applications can be left running under this user session at all times.

Possible resolution 1
Verify that eCapture Queue Manager is running; if it is running, restart it.
  1. Open Controller.
  2. On the status bar (the gray bar at the very bottom of the application), in the QM area, note the server name.
  3. Log onto the server noted in step 2 as the Ipro Service user.
  4. In the Windows system tray, check to see if the Queue Manager icon appears: 2017-08-23 13_34_11-qm.png
    • If the icon appears, right-click the icon and click Exit.
Note: It may take several moments for the application to close.
  5. If the icon does not appear, right-click the Windows Start bar and click Task Manager.
  6. In the Task Manager window, in the Background processes section, check to see if Ipro eCapture Queue Manager (32-bit) process appears.
    • If the process does appear, right-click the process and click End Task.
  7. From the Windows Start menu, click the eCapture Queue Manager icon to re-open the application.
Possible resolution 2
Ensure that at least one Worker has a Status of Ready.
  1. Open Controller.
  2. Click the Worker Status Information tab.
  3. Ensure that for at least one Worker the Status column displays a value of Ready. If all Workers display a Status of Inactive:
    1. In the Registered Workers list, right-click a Worker and click Connect to SERVER.
    2. Log onto the server on which the Worker is installed.
    3. From the Windows Start menu, click eCapture Worker.
  4. If Workers display a different status, review the Ipro knowledge base and documentation to determine appropriate troubleshooting.
Possible resolution 3
Check that at least one Worker is assigned to the task table to which the job is assigned.
  1. Open Controller.
  2. In the Job List, for the job in question, in the Task Table, note the task table to which the job is assigned.
  3. From the Tools menu, click Task Table and Worker Management.
  4. On the click Task Table and Worker Management window, click the Worker Assignment tab.
  5. In the Select the desired table... field, click the task table noted in step 2.
  6. In the Workers assigned to selected task table list, verify at least one Worker is displayed. If the task table is empty:
    1. In the Available Workers area, click a Worker with a Status of Ready.
    2. Click >.
    3. Click Close.
Possible resolution 4
For ADD streaming discovery or Eclipse export jobs, verify that at least one Worker has an Ipro ADD Worker Status of Eligible.
  1. Open Controller.
  2. Click the Worker Status Information tab.
  3. Ensure that for at least one Worker the Ipro Worker Status column displays a value of Eligible or Exclusive. If no Workers display a Status of Eligible or Exclusive:
    1. In Controller, from the Tools menu, click Task Table and Worker Management.
    2. On the Task Table and Worker Management window, click the Ipro ADD Worker Assignment tab.
    3. In the Ipro ADD Workers area, verify that at least one Worker displays. If no Workers are displayed:
      1. In the Available Workers area, click a Worker with a Status of Ready.
      2. Click >.
      3. Click Close.
Possible resolution 5
For eCapture discovery, data extract, processing, or export jobs, ensure that all Workers are not set to Exclusive.
  1. Open Controller.
  2. Click the Worker Status Information tab.
  3. Ensure that for at least one Worker the Ipro Worker Status column displays either no value or a value of Eligible. If all Workers display as Exclusive:
    1. In Controller, from the Tools menu, click Task Table and Worker Management.
    2. On the Task Table and Worker Management window, click the Ipro ADD Worker Assignment tab.
    3. In the Ipro ADD Workers area, for a Worker, in the Ipro ADD Tasks Only column, click to deselect the checkbox.
