How to change the name of an Eclipse Agent
Applies to: Eclipse
Version: All

By default, all Eclipse Agents use the same Agent name. This can be problematic when troubleshooting an issue that requires tracking down which particular Agent worked on a job.

Possible resolution 1
Each Eclipse Agent can be given a unique name by editing its configuration file.
  1. In Windows Explorer, navigate to C:\Program Files\Ipro Tech\Eclipse\Services\AgentService01.
Note: In older versions of Eclipse, the AgentService folders may be be within the \Eclipse\ directory.
  2. Right-click AgentService.WindowsService.exe.config and click Edit.
  3. In the text editor, locate the following section:

    2017-08-03 08_51_29-AgentService.WindowsService.exe.config - Notepad.png

Edit the text within the value="XXXX" section to the desired Agent name.
    Example: value="MyServer_Agent01"
  4. From the File menu click Save.
  5. Repeat steps 1-4 for any other Agents to be renamed.
Going forward, any logged information will be tagged with the name entered in the configuration file.
