How to create additional Eclipse Agents

Description
Eclipse Agents handle a number of distributed Eclipse functions, such as data imports through Eclipse Admin, index building, and keyword list building. Additional Agents can sometimes be added to improve performance with these tasks.

Note that beginning with Eclipse 2017.3.3 the Eclipse installer will automatically create additional Agents with unique names.


Possible resolution 1
  1. In Windows Explorer, navigate to C:\Program Files\Ipro Tech\Eclipse\.
  2. Right-click the AgentService folder and click Copy.
  3. Right-click in an open area of the Eclipse folder and click Paste.
  4. Right-click the AgentService - Copy folder and click Rename.
  5. Enter a unique name for the Agent.
    Example: AgentService02
  6. Open the AgentService02 folder.
  7. Edit the configuration file to give the Agent a unique name. For more information see How to change the name of an Eclipse Agent.
    Example: MyServer-AgentService02
  8. Open a Windows command prompt with administrative permissions.
  9. At the comment prompt enter the following and press Enter:

    sc create "Agent02" binpath= "C:Program Files\Ipro Tech\Eclipse\AgentService02\AgentService.WindowsService.exe" DisplayName= "IproAgentService02"
    Note: The spaces after binpath= and DisplayName= are required.
  10. Repeat steps 2-9 to create additional desired agents.
  11. Open Windows Services.
  12. For each Agent service, set the service to run as your Ipro Service account user and set the Startup type to Automatic or Automatic (Delayed Start).
